Summary of the Role: 

The Dispensary Associate Lead plays a key role in supporting dispensary leadership with daily operations while delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include processing customer transactions accurately using the Dutchie POS system and ensuring compliance with the state’s prescription drug monitoring program (OAARS). In addition to frontline duties, this role carries supervisory responsibilities such as assisting with staff scheduling, directing daily team activities, and assigning tasks to Dispensary Associates. The DAL also contributes to achieving sales and marketing objectives, supports financial performance goals, and helps reinforce clear operational standards across the team. This role requires flexibility in performing opening, closing, and general upkeep tasks to maintain a clean and compliant dispensary environment.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Subject Matter Expert in all core competencies as a dispensary associate 
  • Greet customers and verify identity using valid driver's licenses and registry cards; confirm recommendation status and assist with product selection and education.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service while communicating promotions and answering product-related inquiries.
  • Support the efficient flow of customers through the dispensary and help manage queue operations to reduce wait times.
  • Process orders using handheld scanners, Dutchie POS, METRC, and OAARS systems; manually enter data when necessary.
  • Maintain organized, compliant storage of product inventory and assist with daily AM/PM inventory checks; support Inventory Control Specialists as needed.
  • Accurately package products in accordance with legal and company specifications.
  • Accept and process payments securely; log transactions and required data on Daily Register Sheets.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and in compliance with state regulations and internal policies.
  • Safely secure cash in safes or vaults; assist in preparing for weekly cash pickups.
  • Resolve routine customer concerns (returns, questions, payment issues) while delivering a high level of service.
  • Assist management in scheduling, onboarding, and training new hires; provide coaching and guidance to Dispensary Associates.
  • Open and close the dispensary in the absence of the General Manager (GM) or Assistant General Manager (AGM), ensuring all operational, compliance, and security procedures are followed.
  • Operate registers, tabletop and handheld scanners, and other required equipment confidently and accurately.
  • Exhibit strong customer service skills with a focus on problem-solving and de-escalation techniques.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Dutchie, METRC, OAARS, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Contribute to dispensary financial goals by understanding P&L reports, tracking sales metrics, and analyzing performance data.
  • Show leadership in high-pressure situations; make sound decisions and communicate expectations clearly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall dispensary success.

Qualifications: 

  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to thrive in a teamwork environment. 
  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • Experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Prior cashiering experience preferred. 
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Exceptional leadership ability

  • Extended computer usage 
  • Comfortable being under constant video surveillance 
  • Work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to fumes, dust, odors, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, and noise.
